  2. St Goar is a town in the German federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland Palatinate), Germany. St. Goar is located on the Rhine, in the section known as the Rhine Gorge, and is situated between mountains which rise on either side of the river. Its twin town, St Goarhausen lies directly across the Rhine river on the East bank. The nearest city is Koblenz, which is approximately 30 km’s away.

St Goar is known particularly for the legend of the Loreley, associated with the dangerous Loreley rocks which are a hazard to shipping. It is also famous for the ruined castle Burg Rheinfels.

Cuckoo clocks, beer steins, wine glasses, picture postcards, spoons, dolls, and teddy bears are all popular German souvenirs. St Goar boasts of having the biggest free hanging cuckoo clock in the world, over 3 meters high and 2 meters wide! They also have the largest beer stein as well!
