  2. Livingston Island is an Antarctic island in the South Shetland Islands, Western Antarctica lying between Greenwich Island and Snow Islands. It is situated in the Southern Ocean 110 km to the northwest of Cape Roquemaurel on the Antarctic mainland, 830 km to the south-southeast of Cape Horn in South America.

    Livingston Island contains huge colonies of chinstrap, gentoo, and macaroni penguins, as well as large flocks of skuas, southern giant petrels, sheathbills, and nesting kemp gulls. The waters teem with humpback whales, southern elephant seals, leopard seals, and Weddell seals.

    Transport Links – Access to the South Shetland Islands is from the Port of Ushuaia , Argentina. There are daily Aerolineas Argentinas flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia. LAN Chile (through its LAN Express services) flies a few times a week (currently three) from Santiago de Chile, stopping over in Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.
