  2. Almirante Brown Antarctic Base is an Argentine Antarctic base named after Admiral Guillermo Brown, the father of the Argentine Navy. The station, located in Paradise Bay, is considered to be one of the most beautiful settings in Antarctica. The base was burned down in 1984 and reopened in 2008, but is occupied only in the summer season.

    Paradise Bay is the habitat of Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins, Leopard and Weddell seals. The views from the base across the harbor is stunning with ice cliff and floating icebergs.

    Port Location – Paradise Bay is one of only two ports used for cruise ships to stop on the continent.

    Transport Links – There are daily Aerolineas Argentinas flights from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia. LAN Chile (through its LAN Express services) flies a few times a week (currently three) from Santiago de Chile, stopping over in Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.

    The port of Ushuaia in southern Argentina is used as a base for cruises to Antarctica.
