  2. Sark is the smallest independent feudal state in Europe and is located in the southeastern English Channel. It lies just ten miles off the coast of France, and is a popular vacation spot for the British. It is the smallest of the four main Channel Islands, and is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

    Sark is a car-free zone where the only vehicles are horse-drawn vehicles, bicycles, tractors, and battery-powered buggies or motorised bicycles for elderly or disabled people.

    A visit to Sark, is a step back in time. Most people come to Sark for peace and tranquility and to appreciate the scenery and abundance of wildflowers and sea birds.

    Port Location – The Port is located at St Peter Port which is the capital city of Guernsey.

    Transport Links – Sark does not have its own airport nor does the harbour have the capacity to be reached by large passenger ferries. Visitors to Sark therefore travel fly to one of the two neighbouring islands of Guernsey or Jersey and catch a ferry to Sark. Although Jersey is further away from Sark than Guernsey, journey times are both approximately 45 minutes.

    Getting around Sark is limited to walking, cycling or horse drawn carriage. Bicycles are available for hire.
