The British Virgin Islands, about 60 (mostly uninhabited) islands and cays, are one of the Caribbean's most popular destinations. Sandy Cay is a tiny uninhabited island off the southeast coast of Jost Van Dyke that has a spectacular white sand beach and crystal clear blue water. which . A walking trail leads to the cay's interior, once you're at the top of the island , you can look straight down on the most beautiful rock cliff with crashing waves. Just to the north is the smaller, but also beautiful, Sandy Spit.
The water is deep almost to the shore and on both north and south sides of the island there are fringe reefs, making it good for kayaking and snorkeling. There are some short hiking trails and an anchorage which makes it popular for yachters on daytime picnics.

Port Location – Ships dock and anchor in Tortola. The pier can only hold 2 ships, however, so if more are in port, it will require tendering. Both pier and tender drop-off are located directly in Road Town, the capital of Tortola.
Transport Links – The When ferry runs to Jost Van Dyke from Soper's Hole on Tortola's West End and another ferry connects St. Thomas via St. John. From Jost Van Dyke it is only a short boat trip to Sandy Cay.
There is no transport on the island; the only way to get around is on foot.
