  1. Port Overview

  1. Sognefjord, Norway

  2. The Sognefjord is the world’s longest passable fjord, it lies in the heart of the Norwegian fjord country and extends more than 200 km (120 miles) inland. It is located in Sogn og Fjordane county. Towns on the fjord and its branches include Høyanger, Vik, Sogndal, Lærdal, Årdal, Gaupne, Balestrand, Gudvangen and Flåm. At the head of the fjord you'll find the small, idyllic village of Skjolden .

The Lusterfjord is the innermost arm of the Sognefjord, and this region, where the deep fjord meets the glaciers and Norway’s highest mountains, is considered one of the world's most beautiful travel destinations.

Along the shores of this very picturesque fjord arm there are villages and lush cultural landscapes where fruits and berries are grown on small, idyllic farms. From the fjord you can also see many mountain farms and some of the highest waterfalls in Norway.

Port Location – There are port facilities located at various towns and villages along the Sognefjord.

Transport Links – Boats connect settlements along the fjord and its sidearms. Apart from Flåm, you'd do best to approach the Sognefjord from the north, where most of its appealing spots lie, and in any case transport connections on the south side (from Vinje) are, at best unreliable. Balestrand is the best base from which to access the sognefjord (express boats from Bergen and Flåm).
