Villagarcia, Spain

Spain might appear from the tourist brochures to be no more than a clichéd whirl of bullfights and crowded beaches, castles and Moorish palaces. Travel for any length of time, however, and the sheer variety of this huge country, which in the north can look like Ireland and in the south like Morocco, cannot fail to impress. The separate kingdoms which made up the original Spanish nation remain very much in evidence, in a diversity of language, culture and artistic traditions.
