Atiu, Cook Islands

Atiu, also known as Enuamanu (meaning land of the birds), is an island lying at 187 km to the northeast of Rarotonga, in the Southern Islands group of the Cook Islands Archipelago. It is divided into 5 villages that radiate out from the centre of the island on a flat-topped central plateau. Surrounding the plateau is a ring of taro water gardens and then the jungle clad makatea (fossil coral reef).

Atiu boasts over 28 untouched beaches which offer the visitor many beautiful, quiet, and secluded spots. Other attractions on Atiu include fishing, diving, cave and eco tours and the Tumunu tour, which is the famous bush beer school.
