Vulaga Island, Southern Lau Group, Fiji

Vulaga (Fulaga) is a narrow crescent-shaped reef-limestone island in Fiji's Southern Lau Group. It is known for its scenic beauty and beautiful lagoon that supplies the inhabitants with different varieties of fish and sea shells. There are three villages on the island Muanaicake, Muanaira and Naividamu.

The locals are traditional carvers, skilled in the making of outrigger canoes and 'tanoa', which are wooden bowls carved out of local hardwood. Visitors to the island may have the chance to purchase some of their handiwork during a visit to their friendly community.

Transport Links – Fulaga island can only be accessed by boat from the Lakeba island which is one of the few islands in Fiji's Southern Lau Archipelago with both an air strip and a safe anchorage for small vessels.
