  1. Kawau Island, New Zealand

  2. Kawau Island is located in the Hauraki Gulf, 2 km off the north-eastern coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It shelters Kawau Bay to the north-east of Warkworth and is 50 km north of Auckland.

Kawau Island has a subtropical climate and is popular as a weekend getaway and for holiday makers. The island is largely privately owned and offers excellent conditions for fishing and sailing in Kawau Bay. The island itself has no roads or cars and is mostly covered in bush. There are some excellent walks which take you to Maori Pa sites, old copper mines, beaches and native forests.
