Paranagua, Brazil

Paranagua is the chief port of the state of Parana, Brazil and is situated 268 km south of Santos on a lagoon 29 km from the open sea. It is approached via the Bay of Paranagua and dotted with picturesque islands.

Attractions in Paranagua include the fort of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres, Museum of Archaeology and Popular Art, a 17th century fountain, the church of Sao Benedito and the shrine of Nossa Senhora do Rocio, 2 km from town.

There are restaurants and craft shops near the waterfront. The part of town between the waterfront, railway station and new bus station has been declared an historic area.
