  2. Portsmouth is a city in Rockingham County, New Hampshire in the United States. It is the fourth-largest community in the county and an historic seaport and popular summer tourist destination.

    The region as a whole is noted for its many restaurants, attractions and shopping opportunities, which include downtown Portsmouth, outlet malls and major malls in Newington, New Hampshire.

    A walk along the Harbour Trail is worth doing. It passes more than 70 points of scenic and historic significance in Portsmouth, N.H. Portsmouth is also a leading contender for the title of U.S. city with the most restaurants per capita. The downtown area offers great variety and some of the finest dining in New England.

    Port Location – The Port of New Hampshire is located at the Market Street Marine Terminal-Burge Wharf, Portsmouth.

    Transport Links - The local airport to Portsmouth, Pease, no longer has commercial flights. Instead, Portsmouth is primarily accessible by flights into Manchester and Portland, both an hour by car, or Boston, roughly an hour car ride in good traffic, or an hour and a half by train. Frequent buses on C&J Trailways travel between Boston's Logan airport and Boston's South Station Train Terminal to the Portsmouth Transportation center.

    Portsmouth is also accessible by Amtrak’s Downeaster service and by bus from Boston’s South Station train depot and Logan airport.
