  1. Port Overview

  1. Chatham Strait, Alaska

  2. Chatham Strait is a narrow passage of the Alexander Archipelago in the southeastern region of the U.S. state of Alaska. It separates Chichagof Island and Baranof Island to its west from Admiralty Island and Kuiu Island on its east.It is 240 km long] and extends southward from the junction of Icy Strait and Lynn Canal to the open sea. The strait is deep and 5-16 km wide.

Along the Baranof side, many narrow inlets and secluded bays penetrate deep into the rugged, mountainous interior of the island where you can keep an eye out for wildlife activity. To the south, ruins of failed enterprises, now reclaimed by the forest, might be glimpsed: old whaling stations, salmon salteries and canneries, mines, and fish-meal plants.

Mountain goats and harbor seals sitting on ice floes with their pups can be seen as your travel the blue waters of the Inside Passage. View the surprisingly blue Sawyer Glacier in Tracy Arm and the seabird colonies on remote islands that dot the waterways.
