Robinson Crusoe island is the largest island of the Chilean Juan Fernández archipelago, situated 674 kilometres west of South America in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago is made up of three islands, Robinson Crusoe, Alejandro Selkirk and the small Santa Clara. The main town is San Juan Bautista, located on Cumberland Bay on the centre of the north-east coast of the island .
The Parque Nacional Archipiélago Juan Fernández is located on the island, in which there is an environmental Information Center. There are fascinating species of flora and fauna on the island including la luma, el sándalo, el lobo del mar de dos pelos and the Juan Fernández hummingbird.
Other attractions on the island include the Fuerte Santa Bárbara and the nearby Cuevas de los Patriotas. The island’s cemetery, Mirador del Selkirk and the Cueva de Robinson Crusoe are sites that should not be missed.

Port Location – The port is located at the main town of San Juan Bautista.
Transport Links – There is an airstrip on the island, near the tip of the island's southwestern peninsula. The flying time from Santiago de Chile is just under three hours and there is a ferry from the airstrip to San Juan Bautista.
Flights to the island are in small planes which can carry five to ten passengers with a baggage limit of 10 kg per person. During January and February, there are daily flights leaving the Aeropuerto Tobalaba de Santiago de Chile. Flights operated by private airlines are carried out in twin-engined planes Piper Navajo which carry seven passengers.
