  2. Geelong is a port city located on Corio Bay and the Barwon River, in the state of Victoria, Australia, 75 kilometres (47 mi) south-west of the state capital; Melbourne. Geelong is the second most populated city in Victoria. It is considered a gateway to visiting the magnificent Great Ocean Road, where one can view the mighty 12 Apostles which are world-recognised icons. These giant rock stacks soar from the swirling waters of the Southern Ocean and are a central feature of the spectacular Port Campbell National Park that extends from Princetown to Peterborough.

    Major tourist attractions include the Waterfront Geelong precinct and Eastern Beach on the shores of Corio Bay, the Ford Discovery Centre and National Wool Museum in the city, and more than 30 historical buildings listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The Geelong area hosts regular international events which are also tourist drawcards including the Australian International Airshow.

    Port Location –The Port of Geelong is located in Corio Bay, Geelong.

    Travel Links – Geelong is serviced by Avalon Airport, with Jetstar operating domestic flights to Sydney and Brisbane. The airport is approx 20 minutes out of the CBD, with a shuttle bus operating to the city centre. Air Sharp have a service to Portland.

    Frequent V/Line trains run from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne to Geelong and take about an hour.

    Car/passenger ferries cross the mouth of Port Phillip Bay between Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula and Sorrento on Mornington Peninsula. They depart each terminal on the hour every hour 7AM-6PM every day.

    McHarry’s Buslines run to Geelong from Queenscliff (30 km) and other Bellarine Peninsula towns.
