Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

The Cliffs of Moher are located at the south-western edge of the Burren area near Doolin, which is located in County Clare, Ireland. The Cliffs of Moher are amongst the most impressive places to see in Ireland, and are widely considered to be Ireland's top tourist attraction.

The cliffs rise 120 meters above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 meters just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometers away. On a clear day the Aran Islands are visible in Galway Bay, as are the valleys and hills of Connemara.

There are spectacular views from O'Brien's Tower, at the midpoint of the cliffs and Moher tower, located at Hag's Head, is also worth a visit.

Port Location – The port of Galway is the nearest main port to the Cliffs of Moher. The port is located in Galway Harbour, which is within walking distance of the city.

Transport Links – Shannon Airport is well served by flights from the US, UK and Europe. Major carriers are Aer Lingus and discount carrier RyanAir. Bus Eireann operates a comprehensive network of bus services. There is currently talk of reopening the western rail corridor, so rail service may soon be restored between Clare and Galway. A new rail link between Ennis and Limerick is now up and running. There is a ferry service from Tarbert, County Kerry to Killimer every half hour. This cuts out the need to travel through Limerick City to get into Clare, if you are coming from the south of Ireland.
