  1. Port Overview

  1. Calica, Mexico

  2. Calica, three miles south of Playa del Carmen, is the newest gateway, appearing as a port of call on cruise itineraries for the first time this year. The brand new port was developed primarily as an industrial/ commercial port by private investors; cruise ship docking facilities were added only recently. Like Playa del Carmen, Calica has the advantage of being about an hour's drive from either Cancun or Tulum. It also has benefits from being located next door to Xcaret, a popular nature and recreational theme park which is rapidly becoming one of the most popular attractions in the Yucatan.
