  1. Port Overview

  1. Boca de la Soledad, Mexico

  2. Boca de la Soledad is a narrow channel located at the northern end of Magdalena Island, off the Pacific Ocean Coast of the Mexican State of Baja California Sur. It is a popular location for watching whales, dolphins and sea lions.

It is in the protected lagoons of Boca de la Soledad that many gray whales migrate to give birth and rear their young every year. These whales are famous not only for their size and number, but also for their enthusiastic encounters with humans. Most show no fear of people or boats; instead, they tend to exhibit a friendly, playful curiosity.

Charter bus service in Mexico is superior to that of the United States, with modern, comfortable buses for long-distance travel.

There are no regularly scheduled trains entering Baja from the USA, but Amtrak has service to San Diego, from there you can easily cross to Tijuana, and take onward buses to elsewhere in the peninsula.
