  1. Port Overview

  1. Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria

  2. Barrow-in-Furness or simply Barrow is a town in the county of Cumbria, North West England. The area is surrounded by beautiful beaches and inspiring scenery, and is the gateway to the English Lake District Mountains. It is a large industrial town which grew from a tiny 19th Century hamlet to the biggest iron and steel centre in the world, and a major ship-building force, in just 40 years.

Barrow is also the Lake District Peninsulas' Premier Shopping Centre, with an excellent choice of cafes, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs. There is a vibrant public arts programme with an award winning arts and entertainment centre at Forum 28.

There are two internationally renowned nature reserves along Barrow's coastal fringe, including South Walney which is home to the largest mixed colony of herring gulls in Europe and North Walney Nature Reserve which protects the rare Natterjack Toad.
