  1. Port Overview

  1. Dili, East Timor

  2. Dili is the capital and largest city of East Timor. It lies on the northern coast of Timor island, the easternmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Dili is the chief port and commercial centre for East Timor. Much of the city was destroyed during militia attacks in 1999, however the city has now recovered.

Attractions in Dili include its waterfront area, which is a hub of activity from dawn til dusk. There are many Roman Catholic churches and a massive statue of Christ on the nearby headland. There are some good beaches a few kilometres out of Dili; the most popular beach is the sheltered cove of Areia Branca.
