Skye, often referred to as the Isle of Skye, represents the largest of the Inner Hebrides located off the west coast of Scotland. The capital and largest town on the island is the picturesque port of Portree.
Skye is particularly famous for its mountain scenery and wildlife. Dunvegan Castle and the Old Man of Storr are the most well known attractions on Skye. The Cuillin mountains are a popular spot for hiking, as is the Quiraing.
There are many craft shops and cottage museums. Watersports available on the island include diving, canoeing, windsurfing and yachting. Skye is also the ideal place for fishing and birdwatching. The Talisker Distillery at Carbost is worth a visit for Whisky drinkers.

Port Location –Port Righ is located in the capital Portree on the Isle of Skye. Ferries from Malliag dock at Armadale on Skye.
Transport Links - Skye is linked to the mainland by a bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin, as well as via car ferries from Armadale to Mallaig, and from Kylerhea to Glenelg. The main route to the mainland is on the Caledonian Macbride ferry between Armadale and Mallaig. Skyeferry also operates in summer between Glenelg and Kylerhea.
Trains stop just the other side of the sea channel from Skye. About three trains daily go on the beautiful route from Mallaig (ferry from Armadale) to Fort William and Glasgow and also from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness. Three Scottish Citylink coaches a day run from Portree to Kyle of Lochalsh, Fort William, and Glasgow or Inverness. Local buses also run every 30 minutes over the Skye Bridge between Kyleakin and Kyle of Lochalsh.
