  2. Devonport is a city in the north-west of Tasmania, Australia, at the mouth of the Mersey River. It, along with the slightly smaller city of Burnie, is the major regional centres of the north-west of the state.

    Attractions in Devonport the Don River Railway Museum, which is great for locomotive and transport lovers, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Cultural and Art Centre and the Tasmanian Maritime and Folk Museum and the Devonport Gallery.

    Devonport is also popular as a base for exploring the nearby bushland and rainforest areas. You can visit the Asbestos Range National Park or take the Springlawn Nature Walk (1 hr).

    Travel Links – Devonport is primarily known as the port for the Spirit of Tasmania ferries - Spirit I and II travel to Melbourne, Victoria.

    Devonport Airport is 8km (5 miles) from the town centre. This small regional Airport is served by Qantaslink which flies into and out of the airport up to six times a day, connecting with other flights on the mainland at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne. Local carrier Tasair operates passenger and cargo flights to King Island.
