  1. Port Overview

  1. Bigge Island, Western Australia

  2. Bigge Island is an island off the coast of the Kimberley region in Western Australia. The island lies approximately 6 kilometres from the mainland, from which it is separated by Scott Strait. It is located between York Sound and Montague Sound and approximately 10 nautical miles north of Cape Pond.

Bigge Island is a rugged place which is free from feral predators. Small Monjon rock wallabies and the Northern Quoll thrive here. The island is best known for its Indigenous Australian rock art, which exists on the cliffs and cave walls around Wary Bay. The paintings include examples of first contact art and Wandjina figures. The rock art was created by the Wunambal people.
