  1. Port Overview

  1. Ghizo Is, Solomons

  2. Ghizo Island is located west of New Georgia and Kolombangara, in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. Western Province contains many small lagoons and has some of thebest dive sites in the world. There are numerous beautiful islands and good fishing options, making it the tourist hot spot of the Solomons.

Ghizo island is named after an infamous local head-hunter. It is relatively small when compared to the surrounding islands. Its main town, Gizo, is the capital of the Western province. The main street runs along the water and offers small stores and an open air market. There are also a number of fresh seafood restaurants. Resorts on the island were damaged during a Tsunami in 2007.
