Bruny Island is an island off the south-eastern coast of Tasmania, from which it is separated by the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Geologically, Bruny Island is actually two islands - North Bruny and South Bruny - that are joined by a long, narrow sandy isthmus. The holiday village of Dennes Point is located in North Bruny, while South Bruny is the site of the towns of Alonnah, Adventure Bay and Lunawanna.

Bruny Island is full of surprises - gentle countryside and wild coastlines, quiet beaches and roaring surf and a rich heritage of sealers, whalers and explorers.

Head to South Bruny National Park where you can look out over the cliff tops while at The Neck Game Reserve you can see little penguins and shearwaters on twilight tours in the breeding season.

Port Location – Ferries from Kettering on the mainland travel 20 minutes to Roberts Point, in the north of Bruny Island.

Travel Links – Bruny Island is closest to the state's capital of Hobart. There are a number of flights to Hobart daily from destinations including Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

The Spirit of Tasmania travels daily between Melbourne and Devonport and allows visitors to bring vehicles from the Australian mainland to Tasmania. You can then take the 4 hour drive to Hobart.

Once in Hobart, you can drive south to the city of Kingston and then through the sleepy townships of Margate, Snug, Oyster Cove and Kettering. From Kettering, you can catch the vehicular ferry, The Mirambeena, across to Bruny Island.
