Parga, Greece

Parga is a small town on the western coast of Greece, just between the cities of Igoumenitsa and Preveza, in the region of Epirus. It is a popular picturesque town nested between lush green hills and the clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

Parga town is situated in a sheltered bay and its houses climb the mountainside from seaside to the top. It's got a castle, a large beach on the other side of the mountain called Valtos Beach, two smaller beaches in town, an island across the bay with a chapel, a pier for the tourboats and fishingboats in the middle of town and another beach a couple of kilometers south of town in the next village called Lichnos beach.

In the summer, Parga’s streets are packed with tourists in the narrow passages and the coffee shops that line its promenade. There is a multitude of tourist shops and tavernas and a short walk through the steep streets takes you to the castle that provides a view of the ceramic rooftops of the town, the small beach in its center.

Port Location – The port (pier) is located in the middle of town.

Travel Links – Parga is accessible by bus and boat. There are several daily bus connections from both Preveza and Igoumenitsa, as well as boats from Corfu. Charter tourists arrive with buses from the airport close to Preveza.

Parga is a very small town, so there is really no need for transportation to get around, except from the boats leaving every now and then to the nearby beaches Lichnos and Valtos. It is possible to walk, though the trip can be very warm during the day. To get to the surrounding areas, there is a car and scooter rental in town.
