  2. Satonda island is located in Dompu Regency, a regency of Sumbawa and a division of the Indonesian Province of West Nusa Tenggara. Sumbawa is known to some tourists for its great waves and sandy white beaches.

    Satonda island is probably more popular for its fruit bats than its diving. The sandy bottom in the sheltered bay offers a great opportunity for some muck diving and the sparse coral patches are home to a large array of critters. These include the extremely rare clown frogfish. the scorpion leaf fish, the ghost pipefish and boxer crab.

    Port Location – The port is located at the town of Poto Tano, on Sumbawa.

    Travel Links - Frequent ferry service to Sumbawa (Poto Tano) from Lombok (Labuhan Lombok) exists, however ferry service to Flores from Sape is infrequent. Bima being the largest city, has ferry and bus service directly to Java and Bali, though service breakdowns are common.

    Only the cities of Sumbawa Besar on the western side of the island and Bima on the eastern side of the island have regular air service. Merpati and Transnusa fly to both cities from Denpasar (Bali) and Mataram (Lombok) on Western-made ATR-42 turboprops about four times a week.
