  1. Port Overview

  1. Tikehau, Tahiti

  2. Tikehau is a coral atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago. It is located in the Palliser group, the westernmost of the Tuamotus. The nearest atoll, Rangiroa lies only 12 km to the east. Mataiva, another atoll of the same group, is located 35 km (21 mi.) to the west. The main village is Tuherahera, located on the southern end of the island.
The atoll's oval-shaped lagoon is 27 km long and 19 km wide and is surrounded by an almost continuous coral reef. There is a great density of fish and other marine life in the lagoon which was studied by Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

Tikehau is popular for fishing, snorkeling and diving. It is also known for its abundant bird and marinelife.
