  2. Nouadhibou is the second largest city in Mauritania and serves as a major commercial centre. It is located couple of kilometers from the border between Mauritania and Western Sahara.

    Nouadhibou is a mix of African, Mediterranean, and Oriental elements. The city’s exotic air is accentuated by the flowing robes worn by the friendly and hospitable locals.Attractions in Nouadibou include the Table Remarquable, several markets, a ships' graveyard and Mediterranean monk seals.

    Port Location – The port of Nouadhibou is located approximately 3.2km from the airport.

    Travel Links - The city is served by Nouadhibou Airport. Mauritania Airways flies several times a week between Nouakchott and Nouadhibou as well as to the Canaries. Top Fly also has flights to the Canary Islands.

    Nouadhibou also is connected by railway to the iron mines in Zouérat, 670 km to the east. The freight trains can be as long as 3 km, reputedly the longest in the world. The railway also carries passengers and calls at Choum.

    There are no regular bus connections from/to Nouadhibou from outside of the country. Between Nouadhibou and Nouakchott, however, there are at least five bus lines that provide daily runs. Most leave between 4-5 pm and arrive in the capital between 10-11 pm.
