  1. Port Overview

  1. Kingston, Jamaica

  2. Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. It faces a natural harbour protected by the Palisadoes, a long sand spit which connects the town of Port Royal and the Norman Manley International Airport to the rest of the island. There are two major sections to this city: 'downtown' and 'uptown,' also referred to as 'New Kingston'.

Tourists tend not to stay in Kingston as such, generally heading for the northern and western beaches and resorts instead, but the city does have a wide array of historical and cultural attractions, not to mention a very sophisticated and sizzling nightlife.

In May 2010, Kingston was declared a state of emergency.
