  2. The Suez Port is an Egyptian port located at the southern boundary of Suez Canal. It is bordered by the imaginary line extending from Ras-El-Adabieh to Moussa sources including the North Coast until the entrance of Suez Canal. Suez Port and city which are the southern terminus of the Suez Canal that transits through Egypt and debouches into the Mediterranean Sea near Port Said.

    Built to accommodate passenger ships and vessels going through the Suez Canal, the Port Tewfik, now known as The Suez Port harbour facilities are on an island connected to the town by a 15m-wide stone causeway.

    The town used to be the site of the Port Tewfik Memorial to the 4,000 officers and men of the Indian Army who were killed in Sinai in the First World War. The Memorial was moved to the Heliopolis district of Cairo in the late 1960s.

    Originally Port Tewfik (or Port Taufiq) was named as the entrance of the canal. Port Suez, as it is now known, covers a larger area with multiple harbour facilities.

    Enclosed in breakwaters is the artificial El Mira-El Gedda bay.

    Port Tewfik is to the West of the Suez Canal entrance. It uses the enclosed Ibrahim Dock. Petroleum Dock in the Western part of the El Gedda bay. Ataka Port is the fishing port. Borders are limited by the port breakwaters.

    The waters outside the boundaries of Ibrahim Dock, Petroleum Dock, Ataka Port, Adabiya Port and New Petroleum berth are within the Suez Canal jurisdiction.

    This region is a hot desert climate. The hottest recorded temperature was 49 °C (120 °F) on June 14, 1965 while the coldest recorded temperature was 1 °C (34 °F) on February 23, 2004. The evenings in a desert climate can be quite cold, so Cruise passengers should be guided by their agents as to suitable clothing.

    While cruises are available year round the main season is from March to October to take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather. Weather during the cruise season is warm to hot and the days are long and generally sunny. Most rain in the region falls in the winter months.
