  2. Saltspring Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia between mainland British Columbia, Canada and Vancouver Island. It is the largest, the most populous, and the most frequently visited of the Gulf Islands. The largest village on the island is Ganges. The island is known for its artists.

    Ganges, located in the centre of the island is a focal point for arts, restaurants and pubs, unique shops and book stores and our spectacular outdoor Saturday craft market. Our local marinas attract pleasure boaters, commercial and sports fishermen.

    Port Location – The public port is located in Ganges Harbour.

    Transport Links – The most common way to get to Salt Spring Island is by BC Ferries. There are 3 separate routes that serve Salt Spring Island. Arrivals and Departures for Vancouver go via Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal to Long Harbour. The Ferry from Crofton on Vancouver Island arrives at Vesuvius and the Ferry fromSwartz Bay near Victoria on Vancouver Island arrives via funky Fulford Harbour.

    There is no airport on Salt Spring Island, but float planes fly into Ganges Harbour. This includes regular scheduled service from the Harbour in downtown Vancouver, from Seattle and from the Float plane terminal at the South Terminal of the Vancouver Airport.
