Buenaventura, Colombia

Buenaventura is a port city and municipality located in the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia (South America). Buenaventura is the main port of Colombia in the Pacific Ocean. The capital of the region is Cali which is located 100km from Buenaventura.

Buenavaentura has a high crime rate, however tourists can pass through to Cali and the resort areas of Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, tot he north. These towns are popular for watching the migrating humpback whales during the months of July to late September, through the waters of Bahia Malaga.
