  2. Luzon is the chief island of the Philippines. It is home to the capital city, Manila and is made up of eight diverse regions. It is also the name for one of the three island groups in the country centred on the Island of Luzon, the other two being the Visayas and Mindanao.

    Popular destinations in Luzon include Banaue and Batad with its famed rice terraces, Corregidor Island, the white beach at Pagudpud, Hundred islands in Pangasinan and Sagada which offers beautiful hikes, hanging coffins and the tremendous Simigang Cave. The beaches of Subic are popular, as is Tagaytay the smallest volcano in the world, the Spanish colonial town of Vigan and Albay home of the almost perfectly-cone shaped volcano Mayon volcano.
