  2. Chania city and seaport in Greece, is located in northwestern Crete (Kríti). It is the second largest city on Crete and considered among the most picturesque in Greece. It is built around an old Venetian Port and Castle and extends to a new part which boasts parks and wide streets.

    Some notable sights include the Mosque of Djamissi; the remains of the Venetian "arsenali", where ships were once built and repaired; the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, the huge Municipal Market that connects to the new town at its opposite entrance; the marvellous Archaeological Museum occupying a 16th Century Venetian church; and many of the lovely side streets filled with shops, craftsmen, and beautiful architecture.

    Port Location – Ferry services are available to Chania however the Port of Souda on the northern coast of Crete is the largest natural harbour which accepts large ships.

    Travel Links – The island has three significant airports, Nikos Kazantzakis at Heraklion, the military airport Daskalogiannis at Chania and a new public airport in Sitia. Chania airport is much smaller and far less busy than Heraklion airport. Sitia airport serves currently only a small number of domestic flights, mainly to/from Athens. Crete flight schedules.

    Ferry services from Athens (Piraeus) to Iraklion, Rethimno and Hania and from Thessaloninki and the Cyclades to Heraklion.
