  1. Port Overview

  1. Wakayama, Japan

  2. Wakayama is the capital city of Wakayama Prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. Wakayama City has a rich history as a famous sightseeing destination of the Kansai region. In Wakayama you can see ancient shrines, visit the majestic Wakayama Castle, swim at the beach, and go to an amusement park all in one place.

Wakayama is best known for its castle. Like many castles in Japan, this is a partial reconstruction, as it suffered bomb damage during the war. Walking around the castle is usually very peaceful, and you get a good view of the city. There are some small exhibits inside, showing some of the castle's understated history.
