Sointula is an isolated village on Malcolm Island in British Columbia, Canada. It lies between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland, northeast of Port McNeill and not far from Alert Bay. It was first settled in the early 1900 by Finnish immigrants who dreamt of a utopian village. A visit to Sointula is like a travel back in time, as the place still retains many of its old buildings and the locals are very friendly.
Wildlife on the island and in the waters around the island is abundant. Orca whales return to the so-called "rubbing beaches" on Malcolm Island's northern edge near Bere Point Regional Park every summer and fall. Seals and porpoises can be viewed from the beaches. Birds, mink, otter, beaver and deer live all over the island. The temperate rainforest vegetation helps to sustain the mood of an uncluttered and peaceful haven.

Transport Links – A Ferry service runs continuously between Port McNeill, Sointula and Alert Bay - 7 days a week. The Ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island leaves daily every few hours from T sawwassen or Horseshoe Bay.
