  2. Moreton Island is a large sand island located on the coast of south-east Queensland, Australia. It lies on the eastern side of Moreton Bay, approximately fifty-eight kilometres northeast of Brisbane. It is a popular destination for camping, whale watching, fishing and four wheel driving.

    A popular spot for divers and snorkelers is at Tangalooma where a number of wrecks have been sunk off the shore. It is also well known for its dolphin feeding, sand dunes and beautiful white beaches.

    Port Location – The port at Moreton Island is located at Tangalooma where there is regular ferry and vehicle barge services.

    Travel Links – Access to Moreton Island is via a vehicle ferry service from the Port of Brisbane in Lytton, and the Tangalooma Flyer launched from Pinkenba. There is also a passenger ferry service operating on Wednesday to Sundays, which departs from Newport Waterways Marina, a short distance from Scarborough.

    The island's main airstrip is 1000 m long and lies between Cowan Cowan and Tangalooma.
