  2. Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia. The island is a popular tourist destination as well as host to the annual Hamilton Island Race Week yachting festival.

    Hamilton Island features many resorts, restaurants and shops. There are over forty different activities to do on the island, including golf, sailing and boating, beach activities, bush walking, go-karting, snorkelling and diving. Or you can simply browse the upmarket boutiques or relax on the beach.

    Over 70 per cent of Hamilton Island has been carefully preserved in its natural state so that visitors can also enjoy the pristine beauty of the island's fabulous beaches, unspoilt nature trails and secluded hideaways.

    Fantasea and Blue Ferries operate ferries between Shute Harbour on the mainland to Hamilton Island.
