  2. Derry or Londonderry is situated in Northern Ireland, 7 km's from the border of the Irish Republic. This region is the pathway to the North Antrim Coast and Giant's Causeway to the East, and to Inishowen and Donegal to the West. The city of Derry lying on the banks of the River Foyle, and is connected by two bridges.

    Derry is best known as Ireland's only completely walled city. You can walk along the great 17th-century walls, about a mile round and 18 feet thick, which withstood several sieges and even today are unbroken and complete, with old cannon still pointing over the ramparts.

    Transport Links – The City of Derry Airport is located 7 miles north-east of Derry on the main A2 Derry to Coleraine road. There are flights available to major locations in the UK. Trains travel to and from Belfast, arriving in Derry's Waterside, with a shuttle bus linking the train station to the (more central) bus station. The journey between Belfast and Derry takes just over 2 hours and between Coleraine and Derry affords great views along the shores of Lough Foyle. Translink's Goldline Express offers bus services to and from Derry.
